THE PROBLEM
PLASTIC IS CHOKING OUR OCEANS
8 million tons of plastic enter our oceans every year - from rivers, storm drains and coastal areas. By the year 2050, it is estimated that there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish. The material poses grave danger to marine life and in a short time span, has radically altered a fragile ecosystem that has been stable for millions of years. We now know how the health of the oceans is responsible for health on land, and if current trends are not reversed, plastics will threaten our very existence as a species.
